What is Domain WHOIS information?

WHOIS (pronounced as the phrase who is) is a query/response protocol that is widely used for querying databases in order to determine the registrant or assignee of Internet resources, such as a domain name, an IP address block, or an autonomous system number.
There are a lot of whois web tolls that you can use such as http://www.domaintools.com/, http://www.who.is/ those two samples are for generic TLD only (com, net, org, info, org). For specific domain search you must use specific whois tolls. Such as domain.com.au, domain.co.il, domain.asia, etc.
