I received an access denied error when I tried to update or delete a file using FTP. What is the problem?

Check to see if you have FrontPage Version Control enabled in the FrontPage Web Administration.  When you enable FrontPage Version Control, the server extension will change the file attribute to ReadOnly.

To resolve the problem, you can either :

  1. Use FrontPage to update or delete the file.
  2. Turn off FrontPage version control.

In general, if you intend to use FrontPage as your authoring tool, you should not use FTP to manipulate files.
